Basic Research Journal Club

The intention of the Basic Research Journal Club is to provide a platform for early-career researchers to present their work, to highlight recent advances in our understanding of the disease, and to emphasize the importance of fundamental discoveries for clinical practice.

We invite you to submit a recently published (within one year of publication) article related to basic research in amyloidosis. This includes any basic research article on systemic amyloidoses, as well as any other scientific field that could contribute to a better understanding of systemic amyloidoses.

Journal sessions will be held quarterly in 2026 and will feature an in-depth review of the selected article for a total duration of one hour.

If selected, invited authors will have the opportunity to present their work, highlight how their findings may have clinical impact, review their findings with a senior researcher, and participate in a live discussion. Presentations will be given by the article’s author (preferably an early-career researcher) and moderated by a senior ISA member whose expertise differs from the article’s topic (researcher and/or clinician). To foster dialogue between researchers and clinicians, presenters will be asked to highlight how their findings may have or could have clinical impact. The moderator will lead the discussion (Q&A) following the presentation.

Submissions are encouraged in January and February 2026, with official decisions communicated in early March. The first live session will take place in April 2026.

To submit your article for consideration, use the submission form below. Please note, you must be an author on the article.
