About The ISA Symposium

The biennial International Symposium on Amyloidosis is the premier meeting to showcase the latest advancements, receive updates on cutting-edge research, and network with other clinicians and scientists in the field of amyloidosis. The Symposium is not just an international meeting, but a collaborative platform that brings together delegates from around the world. Healthcare professionals attending ISA symposia represent a diverse range of medical specialties and fields, including clinicians and scientists in the fields of hematology, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, and nephrology, as well as other specialties from around the globe.

The first ISA symposium was held by Enno Mandema in 1967 in Groningen. Meetings were historically conducted periodically, but driven by increasing developments in the field, moved to approximately every three years. Since 2012, meetings have been conducted every two years. The next Symposium will be held in 2026 in Uruguay.

ISA warmly welcomes expressions of interest from our esteemed members in hosting the prestigious biennial International Symposium on Amyloidosis. Hosting an ISA Symposium is a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our field and to network with leading clinicians and scientists. ISA aims to hold symposia in October of even-numbered years. Starting with the 2026 Symposium in Montevideo, Uruguay, symposia will generally rotate among the Americas, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, although this is not set in stone. According to this schedule, ISA 2028 will be in Europe (Athens, Greece), and ISA 2030 will be in the Asia/Pacific region.

Instead of sending detailed proposals, members should simply express interest in hosting a symposium. With the assistance of the experienced meeting planners on the ISA staff, the Board will consider the proposed locations in terms of costs, convenience, and availability of meeting venues and hotel rooms. If their locations are selected, local hosts will be responsible for developing the program, working closely with the international Scientific Committee.

We welcome expressions of interest from members in the Asia/Pacific region to host ISA 2030. Please email us if you are interested in hosting a symposium in 2030 or beyond.
