Basic Research Journal Club
The intention of the ISA Journal Club is to provide a platform for early-career researchers to present their work, to highlight recent advances in our understanding of the disease, and to emphasize the importance of fundamental discoveries for clinical practice.
This includes any basic or clinical research article on systemic amyloidoses, as well as any other scientific field that could contribute to a better understanding of systemic amyloidoses.
Journal sessions will be held quarterly in 2026 and will feature an in-depth review of two selected articles, one research and one clinical.
If selected, invited authors will have the opportunity to present their work, highlight how their findings may have clinical impact, review their findings with a senior researcher, and participate in a live discussion. Presentations will be given by the article’s author (preferably an early-career researcher) and moderated by a senior ISA member whose expertise differs from the article’s topic (researcher and/or clinician). To foster dialogue between researchers and clinicians, presenters will be asked to highlight how their findings may have or could have clinical impact. The moderator will lead the discussion (Q&A) following the presentation. Please note, you must be an author on the article.
We are now accepting articles for the September 2026 live session.
The first live session will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET.
